Alec Baldwin Kills Halyna Hutchins on movie set

On movie set: Alec Baldwin discharged prop firearm, Director of photography killed, movie director injured

Police say Halyna Hutchins was killed then Joel Souza, the director of the film (Rust), was injured.

Authorities say, actor and filmmaker Alec Baldwin, killed his Director of photography and  injured the director of the film "Rust'' in a Santa Fe area.

Authorities say 42-year-old Hutchins was flown to New Mexico University Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead by doctors.

Souza, 48, was taken by ambulance to Christus St. Vincent for treatment of wounds. Actress Frances Fisher, who is also expected to act in the film, tweeted last night that Souza had left the hospital.

The film has been temporarily suspended while the investigation continues.

The Santa Fe New Mexico newspaper reported that 68-year-old Baldwin appeared Thursday outside the sheriff's office crying, but attempts to get comment from him were unsuccessful.

The Guild International Cinematographers also confirmed that the woman who was shot and killed was Hutchins.

The president, John Lindley and his colleague, Rebecca Rhine, said: "So far we have not received enough information, we are just doing our best to find out more about the accident, and we support a full investigation into the matter."

Hutchins, 42, was the director of filmmaking for the film "Archenemy" last year, starring Joe Manganiello. The woman also graduated in 2015 from the American College of Film.

“I’m so sad about losing Halyna. And so infuriated that this could happen on a set,” said “Archenemy” director Adam Egypt Mortimer on Twitter. “She was a brilliant talent who was absolutely committed to art and to film.”

"The investigation is ongoing ," said Sheriff's spokesman Juan Rios. He adds that twitnesses continued to be questioned by investigators. ”

The woman's death brought to mind the events of 1993, when Brandon Lee, 28, the son of the late Bruce Lee, died after being hit by a .44-caliber slug while filming a death scene for the movie "The Crow." The gun was supposed to have fired a blank, but an autopsy turned up a bullet lodged near his spine.

A verified Twitter account for Brandon — run by his sister, Shannon Lee, according to the account's bio — tweeted early Friday that "No one should ever be killed by a gun on a film set. Period."
